Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time. And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?
As I looked at the above scripture, I noticed that there will always be Saul figures positioned at various junctions of everyone’s life to play one role or the other towards your eventual outcome. What you do with them unconsciously affects the color, dignity and stability of your outcome.
WHO IS YOUR SAUL?
1. The one that gave you your first opportunity for a breakthrough.
2. The one that brought you out of the background into limelight.
3. The one that gave you a taste of life in the palace.
4. The one that gave you the job when you had no experience.
5. The one that risked volunteering his armor(current trade or ministry secrets) just to ensure your success and safety.
6. The one that gave you shelter or paid your school fees when you had no hope from any other.
7. The one that allowed you drop his name or threw his weight to give you an edge.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SAUL SPIRIT:
1. It sees you as his or her own creation.
2. Believes you could have been a nobody without his or her input- though this is always an assumption.
3. Expects eternal gratitude and loyalty- though this is not wrong.
4. Feels his position of power and influence over you threatened at the sight of your rapid development and traits of personal responsibility and initiatives.
5. Will spare no cost in trying to crush you when he or she feels you pose any threat to the status quo.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE YOUR SAUL?
1. Always remember that they are human and therefore susceptible to every trait of humanity which dominion over others ranks very high.
2. Refuse every direct or subtle invitation unto confrontation with him or her. Anytime you engage into a battle with someone who once helped you, you expose yourself to resistance from the forces of nature.
3. Refuse to entertain bitterness, anger or resentment against him or her. This makes you lose focus on your life’s vision, robs you of the energy you require to make progress; brings limitation on your capacity for maximum expression.
4. Always remember that God respects leadership and authority and will never be in support of any action to destroy or undermine a leader whether you are right or wrong.
5. Always talk good of your Saul to the hearing of men despite what your Saul may have said to people about you. It’s a seed that kills the potential of bad will.
6. Weigh the effects of your thoughts and words when expressing your displeasure to him or her to ensure it’s not laced with pride and arrogance. You don’t expect to win an argument with your Saul.
7. Allow God and time to answer him or her on your behalf rather than trying to validate your convictions and decisions by all means.
8. Always remember that ego and pride are part of the natural Man’s life baggage and they can sometimes do the unthinkable to preserve it.
9. It’s possible to disagree with your Saul in principles and perceptions but never rob it on him or her.
10. Do good to them or their children anytime you have the opportunity.
LAST NOTE:
Your Saul may delay your journey but can never stop it.
The way you handle your differences with your Saul determines how far and fast you can go in life.
People may think you a fool or docile for choosing the path of peace with your Saul but it’s only their opinion.
What you didn’t sow into your Saul, both he and the devil can never make happen to you.
COUNSEL:
1. Never allow the actions of your Saul make you do the wrong thing.
2. Beware of those who may want to help you fight your Saul. They may end up creating more troubles for you.
I PRAY FOR YOU:
Receive grace to pursue peace in Jesus name!
Every trace of pride or anger that will make you fall into the trap of Saul is cleared from your system now in Jesus name.
