And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow. 2 kings 5:26-27.
As I looked at the above scripture, I see this pattern repeating itself in every facet of human existence.
Prophet Elisha ended the potential ministry of Gehazi because they differed in principles, perception and values. Elisha expected Gehazi to be exactly like him in everything to be suitable to have the anointing. He forgot that people are not always the same. Elisha eventually died with all the grace he carried depriving future generations of the blessing of the grace he carried because everyone around him to his estimation were not qualified for the transference of such heavy unction. (He expected them to pay the same price or more he paid to get it from Elijah)
Your Gehazi could be a friend, colleague, spouse to be, protégé or an associate over whose future God has given you the privilege to determine by your current position. Be careful what you do with it.
You can actually disconnect a Gehazi without necessarily destroying their future or reputation.
It was the same Gehazi in 2 kings 8:4-5 that was in the palace telling a positive story about Elisha to the king in Elisha’s absence.
LESSONS:
1. That you differ in principles and values with a person does not always make that person absolutely useless.
2. Expecting people to think, act or share the same views with you always is a set up for a frustrated existence.
3. Everyone you see is a project in progress not a finished product. The person’s presence around you is an opportunity for you to be a part of their future success story by playing your part in their making.
4. The person you despise today maybe the person you need to speak to the authorities about you tomorrow.
5. If you keep losing relationships that come your way on flimsy issues about people then you have a real people relationship deficit.
6. Never use your convictions as a standard to measure people’s qualifications for a task.
7. If no one is suitable to do perfectly what you are currently doing, it is a colossal failure of your existence.
8. Always remember that People have different paces in comprehending and grasping issues in their developmental journey.
9. You may have the opportunity to decide someone’s fate today but you don’t have power to decide their destiny. You may still find them in the palace tomorrow through other means.(Gehazi was in the palace without Elisha)
10. Be quick to forgive and release those that hurt you, because God will not seek your approval to forgive them if they call on Him. (For Gehazi to be in the palace before the king shows that God had healed him of the leprosy because no leper can stand before people talk less of the king)

Receive grace to handle authority with discretion and humility in Jesus name.
Receive grace to quickly forgive others in Jesus name.
May God give you the wisdom to handle your Gehazis in Jesus name!
