And it shall come to pass in the last days,
that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains,
and shall be exalted above the hills;
and all nations shall flow unto it.
And many people shall go and say,
Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob;
and he will teach us of his ways,
and we will walk in his paths:
for OUT OF ZION SHALL GO FORTH THE LAW,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Isaiah 2:2-3.
I had a chat with a pastor friend on the subject of the end time revival, I told him that the common understanding of revival in Africa is when thousands or millions of people are running to a place of worship, weeping and praying ceaselessly. When the church pews are getting overflowed with crowd, we believe a revival is taking place. That is just the beginning of the revival. I told him, with respect to the views of others but I have my personal view about genuine revival. (Please note, it’s my personal view as inspired during my meditation)
Looking at the B part of the second verse of the above text, it says, FOR OUT OF ZION SHALL GO FORTH THE LAW. The LAW in this context talks about the PRINCIPLES, the ORDER, the RULE, the INSTRUCTION, the DIRECTION, the STANDARD, the EXAMPLE, etc. The question is, how much of the above is the church (mind you that the church is not a place of worship or a denomination but the individual Christian) providing in business, politics, education etc? Most places of worship in Africa are busied with marketing the acts of God rather than His ways to the people in response to the irresponsibility of several governments who have failed to provide the basics of life. (Note also that without the church that gives hope and builds faith In people, the suicide rate would have shot over the roof due to the curse of visionless political leadership).
So I said, genuine revival is not an emotional feeling or a reaction to a certain stimuli but a way of life. No matter how fireful you are, the man who controls your time and economy wields an unusual influence over your life. Until the principles of the Kingdom begin to run micro and mega businesses, influence political decisions and impact relational activities, real revival is still very far. This becomes possible through a deliberate paradigm shift in the thoughts and operations of the individual church..
