And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them. Gen 50:19-21.
The tragedy of leadership development in Africa is that today’s leaders still want tomorrow’s leaders to battle yesterday’s obstacles. This myopic, retrogressive and unscriptural mindset has limited the expression of many potential and slowed down the speed of many young people. I have heard people say, “do you know what it took me to get here, and you think you can just have it cheaply?” Whatever God allowed you go through in your journey of life, determine to clear it out of the way for others to pass effortlessly. Imagine if Jesus still expects you to go through your own cross before you can access heaven. Imagine if you need to create your own road before you can drive on it. Let your suffering be a lesson to others rather than their example. Make yourself a bridge for someone. Make yourself a ladder for another. At the end of your life, it’s not the things you get that determines your actual worth but the people you raised. We can change this if you and I can start where we are with the people around us. Invest more in people than on things. Somebody shout I hear!
