And Joab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day: but this day thou shalt bear no tidings, because the king’s son is dead. Then said Joab to Cushi, Go tell the king what thou hast seen. And Cushi bowed himself unto Joab, and ran. Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again to Joab, But howsoever, let me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi. And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing that thou hast no tidings ready? But howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run. Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and overran Cushi…
And the king said, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered, When Joab sent the king’s servant, and me thy servant, I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was. And the king said unto him, Turn aside, and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still. And, behold, Cushi came; and Cushi said, Tidings, my lord the king: for the Lord hath avenged thee this day of all them that rose up against thee. 2 Sam 18:19-23,29-31.
A major factor for the abundance of smallness everywhere today in our world, whether in business or ministry is because many are not prepared to wait, especially when asked to do so by a superior or an experienced authority.
Ahimaaz saw what happened but had not the details. He saw the testimonies but didn’t understand the process. His captain told him to wait for another day, but he wanted that day. That particular assignment was designated for Cushi but Ahimaaz wanted it.
He trusted in his speed(charisma, skills or oratory) but lacked details.
He truly outran Cushi, got there, but had no news, and was subsequently set aside.

Waiting time is not wasting time but grounding and processing time. Whatever price you need to pay to get grounded details in what you are set to pursue, pay it. Why? There are unforeseen things you may meet on the way that skill may not help you but experience will. The impact an arrow can make is a function of the strength of the one who shot it not just the sharpness of the arrow. The distance you can see is determined by where and on what you stand. What you can construct is influenced by how you were instructed. The strength of your future is determined by what has happened to your nature as a result of the quality of what you have heard. The stories you can tell tomorrow is determined by the examples you have seen. Who speaks into your life today determines who can hear you tomorrow. You can predict where you can arrive by the direction you follow. Who trains you today determines if you can be traced tomorrow. What you can dare is a function of who is backing you. The height you can fly to is determined by the strength of your feathers.
Counsel:
1. Submit heartily to processing. Be patient with God to get the details. Be patient with your tutor when he’s chiseling you.
2. That someone went ahead of you does not mean they can take your place. Don’t be intimidated by the results you see around you, no man can fulfill your task.
3. Respect those who are sharing now. You will always have a share if you have what to share.
4. Attention is not free. It is always paid to the one with the substance.
5. Celebrate with those who have the stage now knowing that the stage is not an inheritance of anyone but a common possibility for people with substance. You are still coming!
